LED Strip Light Kit for Skirting & Shadow Gaps

Made-to-measure skirting lighting, prewired and ready to fit. Measure your walls, take off the doorways, and we cut the strip to your room, size the driver and wire the lot before it ships. Dotless COB white or tunable white for one continuous line of light at floor level.

From £34.84 Incl. VAT£29.03 Excl. VAT complete kit · configured below
Add up the length of every wall the light will follow and take off the door openings. A 4m by 3m room is 14m of wall, so about 13m once the door is out. The strip runs as one continuous line in the shadow gap or along the top edge of the skirting board.

Description

A line of light at floor level does something no ceiling fitting can: it makes the walls float, stretches the room, and gives you a glow you can live with when the main lights are off. The strip sits in the shadow gap above the skirting, or tucked along the top edge of the board, so you only ever see the light itself.

Every kit is built to your room rather than sold in fixed lengths. Add up the walls the light will follow, take off the door openings, and we cut the strip to that measurement, size the driver for the exact load, and pre-wire the feeds before it ships. The price updates as you build, so what you see is what you pay.

How to Build your Skirting Lighting Kit

Four choices, in order, in the configurator above:

  1. Colour. Fixed white in warm 3000K, natural 4000K, pure 5000K or cool 6000K. Tunable white (CCT) you adjust anywhere from 2700K to 6500K from the remote. RGB or RGBW for colour changing. Or one fixed colour.
  2. Control. Static on the wall switch, dimmable from an RF remote, or an RF remote for the colour changing options.
  3. Measurements. Your room perimeter at the floor, minus the doorways.
  4. Add-ons. A spare connector pack.

One Unbroken Line, Right Round the Room

Floor level is the harshest place to put a cheap strip. The light rakes along the floor finish, and every individual diode shows as a bright dot with its own little pool. The white strips in this kit are dotless COB, with the LEDs packed densely enough to read as one continuous line the whole way round the room, on oak, on tile and on polished concrete.

Long perimeters are where the wiring matters. Any run over 5m is split into parallel feeds from the driver rather than daisy-chained, so the far corner of the room is exactly as bright as the wall next to the driver. The feeds are made up before the kit ships, and the configurator works out how many your room needs.

What Is Included:

  • LED strip, cut to your room’s measurement
  • A driver sized automatically for your total load
  • RF remote dimmer and receiver, or the colour remote, depending on the control you choose
  • Corner link cables and solderless connectors, prewired
  • Wiring diagram and measuring guide

How do I fit my skirting lighting kit?

The strip presses into the shadow gap facing down, or sits on the top edge of the skirting board facing down, where its own body hides it from standing height. Work round the room from the driver position, take the prewired corner cables around each corner, and connect the driver last. Nothing needs cutting or soldering on site.

Whether you need an electrician comes down to the driver. A hallway or a small room runs from a plug-in driver in a nearby socket. A full room perimeter usually steps up to a hardwired driver on a fused spur, which is work for a qualified electrician. The configurator tells you which one your kit uses before you order.

FAQs for our Skirting Lighting Kits

Do I need an electrician?

For most whole-room builds, yes: the load calls for a hardwired driver on a fused spur. Shorter runs like hallways use a plug-in driver and do not. Your kit tells you which it uses before you buy.

Do the lights go inside the skirting board?

No. The strip sits in the shadow gap above the board, or on the board’s top edge, pointing down. You do not need special lit skirting boards, and your existing boards stay where they are.

Can I fit this in a finished room?

Yes. Nothing is chased into the wall and no boards come off. The strip fixes along the top edge of the existing skirting, the corner cables are already made up, and the only planning point is a socket or spur for the driver.

How do I measure my room?

Add up the length of every wall the light will follow, then take off the door openings. A 4m by 3m room has 14m of wall, so about 13m once the door is out. Enter that figure and the kit is cut to it.

Will the far side of the room be dimmer?

No. Runs over 5m are fed in parallel from the driver rather than joined end to end, so brightness is even the whole way round. The configurator works out the feeds and they arrive prewired.

Are the lights dimmable?

Yes. Choose Dimmable and the white and single colour strips come with an RF remote dimmer and receiver, whatever the length. The colour changing strips dim from their own remote.

How big a room can one kit light?

One driver runs up to 48m of the white strip, which covers a room of about 14m by 10m, and a bigger room is split into zones with a driver each, up to 100m in one kit. Past 100m, get in touch for a custom quote; the configurator says if your measurement is over the limit.
