Cove lighting is the light you cannot see: a line of glow washing up the ceiling from inside the coving, with no fitting, no glare and no bulb anywhere in view. It makes a ceiling feel higher and a room feel calmer, and it flatters everything under it because all of the light arrives softly, bounced off the plaster.
Every kit is built to your room rather than sold in fixed lengths. Add up the walls the coving follows, tell the configurator the perimeter, and we cut the strip to your measurement, link the corners, size the driver for the exact load and wire the lot before it ships. The price updates as you build, so what you see is what you pay.
How to Build your Coving Lighting Kit
Four choices, in order, in the configurator above:
- Colour. Fixed white in warm 3000K, natural 4000K, pure 5000K or cool 6000K. Adjustable white you tune anywhere from 2700K to 6500K on a remote. RGB or RGBW if the cove should change colour, or one fixed colour.
- Control. Static on the wall switch, dimmable, or motion activated. A dimmed cove is most rooms’ favourite evening setting, so dimmable earns its keep here.
- Measurement. One number: the perimeter the coving follows, in metres. A 4m by 3m room is 14m. Lighting a single wall or an alcove? Just enter that length instead.
- Add-ons. An aluminium profile with diffuser, and a spare connector pack.
One Unbroken Line on the Ceiling
Cove lighting is reflected light, and the ceiling shows you exactly what the strip is made of. Ordinary strip throws a row of scallops up the plaster, one per diode. The white and adjustable white strips in this kit are dotless COB with 480 LEDs per metre, so what reaches the ceiling is one continuous, even wash from the first corner to the last.
Brightness stays even the whole way round because longer perimeters are fed in parallel every five metres rather than daisy-chained. The far corner of the room is exactly as bright as the wall above the driver.

How do I fit lights in my coving?
The strip fixes inside the cove, on the ledge or the back face, pointing up at the ceiling so the strip itself is never in view. The run arrives cut, linked and prewired, so it goes in as one piece; if you are decorating, fit it before the final coat and keep the driver somewhere you can still reach.
Short runs, an alcove or a single wall, use a plug-in driver in a standard socket. A whole-room perimeter draws more, so it uses a larger driver wired in by a qualified electrician. The configurator tells you which your room needs before you order.

How much strip does my room need?
Add up every wall the coving follows. A 4m by 3m room is 14m, and that is the number the configurator wants. It works out the load, the driver and the feeds from there.
Does the coving need to be a special type?
It needs a ledge or void for the strip to sit in and an open top edge for the light to escape, which is what LED coving profiles provide. Traditional plaster coving that closes against the ceiling has nowhere for the light to go.
Can one kit light a whole room?
Up to about sixteen metres of perimeter on the largest driver, which covers most domestic rooms. Beyond that, get in touch and we will quote for a second driver.
Will I see bright spots on the ceiling?
Not with the white options in this kit. Scallops on the ceiling come from strips with widely spaced diodes; dotless COB reads as a single line, and the ceiling reflects it as one even wash.
Can I dim a cove?
Yes, and you should. Smaller rooms take an inline dimmer, larger perimeters use an RF dimmer with a remote, and the configurator picks the right one for your load automatically.
What happens at the corners?
Each straight section is cut to length and the corners are bridged with prewired link cables, so the loop turns every corner without a soldered joint or a visible gap in the light.
